Hamilton Public Library – Red Hill Branch

The Hamilton Public Library offers the Multicultural Early Learning Development Project (MELD) intended to meet the needs of newcomer families. The program provides parents with supports for their children’s early learning and school readiness development including the Summer Reading Club and Storytime for Newcomer Families.

The Multicultural Early Learning Development Project is supported by dual language family workbooks, accessible dual language collections, and family programs. The intent is to break down language and cultural barriers, and to promote ready, early learning, language development and library use.

The Summer Reading Club is designed to reach out to children and parents over the summer months by providing literacy-based programs in east Hamilton at various locations.

The Storytime for Newcomer Families program is a free and fun early literacy program of stories, songs, finger play and puppets offered at Community Access to Child Health (CATCH) and Lake Avenue School. It is designed for newcomer parents/caregivers with children ages newborn to 5 years old.
